Weight loss, fitness & my journey to a healthier life

Hello to everyone who decides to read this. I know I haven't 'blogged' in such a long time, but I generally prefer to 'vlog' because talking is easier and if you know me, I like to talk!
I wanted to address something that has become a massive part of my life these past couple of months - FITNESS.

I remember, aged 10, running laps around my school playground because I thought I was fat! I would look back now and laugh because I really wasn't! I was a 'normal' average, healthy weight and always have been. Now, aged 18, I'm still classed as average in the BMI scale, but I can't help but feel a little disappointed with my body. Not necessarily because of my weight; to me that is just a number. But more so because I just want to be healthier and fit!
I stopped dancing and cheer leading 2 years ago and since then, I've put on a few pounds here and there and it's really shown. I've always missed my active lifestyle and hobbies and sometimes I do wonder what I would look like if I continued as I did.
Blast to the past right there! 2010 aged 15

My diet whilst being on summer break was not one to be desired by any Doctor I can tell you that! And to tell you the truth, I hated it! I WANTED to make a difference and make a change. I wanted to look in the mirror and be happy. I wanted to feel the health benefits that raw foods would provide me!
My family have never been interested in anything to do with sport, exercise or going to the gym and it wasn't really until my younger brother started going to the gym that I believed I could do it too!
One night, I was browsing through youtube and tumblr, and I came across 'fitspo' or motivational fitness blogs/channels. I fell in love. contrary to my original belief, these blogs taught me that great change first requires great will power and actions come before rewards. I always felt as though my body was something I couldn't change. 'I'm born bigger boned' I would always tell my skinnier friends as I envied their petite frame. But the truth of the matter was, I could change my body if I wanted to! I could become lean, healthy, active, happier and more energetic to name but a few of the amazing benefits of creating a healthier lifestyle for myself. I soon realised that it wasn't DIETING that would allow me a better body, but instead, a LIFESTYLE CHANGE.
I knew if it was something I was going to be serious with, I would have to do it properly. Allocate days for myself to be treated. Think of meal plans which include all your major food groups. Moderate calories and exercise well.
It would be a slow process that would take months to see changes and years to continue. But I wanted to do it!
If you are lacking motivation, i'll link a few of my favourite YouTube videos below! These really helped me! :)

I love this lady! She responds to every question, she is so helpful and sends so much motivation your way!

I went right ahead and bought a new fitness wardrobe complete with the most gorgeous trainers i've ever owned! I'll link the haul for it below so you can see what I purchased :)

I then downloaded some great apps on my phone and used their exercise techniques and muscle toning exercises to create my own workout routine in my bedroom free of charge! If you're lacking motivation, fitness buddy sends notifications through to your phone in the form of inspirational quotes every so often which really give you that mmmf you need! I love abs trainer and Nike Running! And i'm planning on venturing out on my first ever run with this app tomorrow! Living in a town makes it difficult to run, but I need my cardio!

My healthy lifestyle and fitness journey is just getting started, and with plans to join a gym at my university in 2 weeks time, i'm so excited to see where it will take me! I will be posting progress pictures roughly around Christmas time! so be on the look out! I seriously encourage anyone who is thinking about making GOOD lifestyle changes to do so! The benefits are amazing, and we can embark on this journey together!:)
If you want some more motivation or tips, then follow me on tumblr at http://www.natalieeeexoxox.tumblr.com/  where I post a variety of things as well as fitness motivation ! :)
I'll write more blog posts in the future about my meal plans and exercise routines etc.!
Until then, good luck with everything :)
